I have an idea, what if you could come up with a game that would allow the player to collect powerups (food and water) and coins. The coins would be used to buy more powerups. It could be like a camping theme.

Camping? It sounds a little more like it would be a food theme.

No, not food. It could be camping. It could have outdoor scenery. The player would collect power ups by defeating the enemies or they could just find them along the path that they must take. They would also collect tokens for money, and when they reach a certain amount of tokens they would then be able to go into like a market or a store and buy more power ups or gear. They could also fish for food, for example, if they go and buy like a harpoon they would would be able to eat that way as well. They could also interact with other campers as well.

There could be anything really; bananas, corn, any type of food you would want to put in it. I would say it should grow from the ground, like fruits or veggies. The meat can be gotten from animals, for example, you go to the store and buy gear, you can then fish, or hunt deer. Anything really, would work.
I also have a thought about the inventory thing you would have to do about the store. You could also make like junk food, such as candy bars, peanut butter to make sandwiches, anything you would take with you or buy for such a trip.

I am not really sure what you are talking about. I am sure you have seen what some games have done in the past dealing with inventory, I think maybe it could be just open slots with the picture of the item they would be getting.
The more I think about it, I think that this game will be hard but I think it would be worth it. It would take everything up a step.

Yeah, it will definitely be hard to do. I've never done an inventory before, well I have, but not functional... Text based stuff(inventories, shops, etc) are easiest to make, but not icon/slot based ones. I can do fairly advanced games, so never underestimate my awesome programming skills[citation needed], or at least I think I can...
